Transport Planner - New Ross

We are currently recruiting for the role of Transport Planner in our transport office. This planner will be responsible for the scheduling and monitoring of vehicle (HGV) road deliveries within agreed delivery times and customer requirements. It includes planning routes, allocating the correct equipment and drivers for the loads, ensuring compliance with regulations, monitoring drivers, their working hours and helping to ensure the operation runs efficiently at all times.

The Role:

  • Assist senior planners in assigning loads to drivers, including; routing, journey time, appropriate vehicles for load type, driver location and availability, customer requirements, load security, etc
  • Book ferries, check for customs clearance (if required) and any other country specific documentation.
  • Liaise with HGV drivers, customers, customs officials, suppliers and all internal stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure the transport system is updated in real time and reflecting current state
  • Responding to all queries, calls and emails. Keeping the transport team updated at all times
  • Monitoring end to end deliveries and taking immediate corrective action if and when required.
  • Maintain all systems, processes and reporting requirements
  • Other ad hoc administration duties

The ideal candidate will;

  • Be organised, focused with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Have attention to detail with strong IT capability
  • Be very comfortable working in a dynamic and fast changing environment

Garage Operations Manager - New Ross

We are currently recruiting for the senior role of Garage Operations Manager.

Key Duties of the Role:

  • Working closely with and reporting to the Garage Director - you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the business.
  • Manage the onsite team of assorted garage staff including mechanics, welders, auto electricians and refrigerated unit technicians.
  • People management duties will include recruitment, selection, training and performance management - including evaluating the quality of the work being undertaken.
  • Log, evaluate and assign all work to be undertaken and schedule the order in which the work is to be undertaken.
  • Assess the work in such a way that complex work is properly assigned while quick and easy repairs are expedited through the garage.
  • Ensure staffing levels are in keeping with the operational needs and financial goals of the business.
  • Operate the facility in full compliance on all matters such as health and safety and quality standards. This responsibility will include the scheduling of regular audits of all agreed standards.
  • Ensuring that all work undertaken is recorded correctly, dated and retained for the purposes of road safety compliance.
  • Accurately record the movement and use of parts and update the stock records each day.
  • Liaise with the Garage Director weekly on the parts and consumables to be ordered each week.
  • Responsible for the end to end movement of all transport units, in order to minimise their time in the garage workshop.
  • Deal with all operational issues that arise from time to time and resolve all matters to the satisfaction of the Garage Director.
  • Monitor the operation of the business and provide input for continuous improvements to systems, scheduling and manpower planning - especially around periods of exceptional or seasonal demands.
  • Work closely with the Group Financial Controller in the rollout of an automated and barcoded stock control system for all parts and garage consumables.
  • Report on all housekeeping matters - such as equipment, site & building maintenance, the general upkeep of the facilities along with suggested improvements.
  • Manage the work of all external contractors - undertaking work at the facility.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports and updates to the Garage Director.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified mechanic, auto electrician or hold a similar qualification.
  • Have a minimum of 10 years management experience working in a similar role - ideally in the road transport industry.
  • Be well organised and a multitasker with an eye for detail and a good common sense approach to the scheduling of work.
  • Have a strong commitment to compliance, health and safety and quality standards.
  • Have stock room and spare parts management experience.
  • Have strong proven leadership skills and be able to demonstrate team leadership, motivation, coaching and the day-to-day management of a team; including performance reviews and staff appraisals.
  • Demonstrate responsibility for delivering on a business plan and its objectives including the management of all resources and costs.
  • Have experience of day-to-day reporting and accountability to senior management.
