Safe Urban Driving Course

19/09/2018 10:04 AM

Nolan Transport & JRT Truck Drivers during training for Safe Urban Driving course that was done at out Bridgend depot in September 2018.

With the ever increasing number of cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists on our roads, it is essential that HGV and PSV drivers understand and are able to operate safely and reduce the risks of driving in today's busy urban environments.

The Safe Urban Driving course focuses on how fleet drivers share our cities' streets safely with the most vulnerable road users. There is a particular emphasis in the course on cyclists and includes a practical 'on-road' cycle training module to give drivers a 'real life' experience of a cyclist's perspective. To find out more about this course you can visit https://safeurbandriving.co.uk/

Darkness Into Light

11/05/2016 05:22 PM

Back in March a few of our staff decided to do fundraising for Pieta House linking in with their Darkness Into Light event. After researching Pieta house they were made aware that It costs approximately €1,000 to successfully bring one person through a full suite of therapy sessions and into the light, they decided to set this as their target.

Nolan Transport are proud to announce that not only did they reach their target, they exceeded it raising:

After a few weeks of brainstorming, they decided on a few fundraising ideas that they believed would help reach their target. These fundraising events all finished on the the 6th of May, the day before the Darkness Into Light event

The Events Included:

Coin Jar

For loose change. With a guess the amount competition on the final day.

A good old fashion monster raffle with great prizes donated by local businesses

Duck Race

This was our main event, an event seen in many local rural events. For this they needed a race track and some rubber ducks. They were able to source the rubber ducks online from overseas – they are ducks afterall! but for the track they enlisted one of our part-time carpenter staff members Kevin Fitzharris who exceeded everybody’s expectations with a superb state of the art Duck track J  (No animals were harmed in this fundraiser)
There was a great atmosphere on the day of the race

Darkness Into Light

Not only did they have a busy day on Friday but they were up for a 4:15am start for the Darkness Into Light run/walk. The group participated in the event in both Enniscorthy and Kilkenny.

The fundraising team called to many local businesses to ask for a donation of prizes for the events. They were overwhelmed with the generosity and kindness off all involved.

We would like to send a HUGE THANK YOU to the below businesses:

Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA)

12/11/2014 09:56 AM

Changes taking place from January 2015 in relation to the European Union directive on Fuel Emission that all ferry operators operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA).
The SECA zone includes English Channel and North Sea that we must travel though when moving your cargo going to/from Mainland Europe.

The current maximum allowed Sulphur content in marine fuels is 1.0% and this will reduce to 0.1% within the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA).
Effectively this means that traditional heavy fuel oil used in freight ferries will be replaced with more refined fuel oil which is more expensive to purchase.

All the various ferry operators within this area have slightly different but similar systems for calculating the SECA surcharges.

We together have absolutely no control over this forced European taxation, The cost implications are unavoidable with a significant impact on current operating cost that we have to pass onto the customer.

Details that we have received from various ferry suppliers.

Under the new legislation, Irish Sea routes between Ireland – UK will not be included in the SECA area until January 2020, this means that the transport costs between Ireland and United Kingdom will not be effected by new low Sulphur rules at this stage.

Naturally, We are extremely conscious of the difficulties which arise from any increase in transport charges to our customers.

We thank you for your understanding on this matter and please do not hesitate to contact us, should you require further clarification.

Christmas Jumper day

19/12/2013 12:22 PM

The Christmas Jumpers came in all shapes, sizes, price ranges and DIY specials;

We sold an array of cupcakes, minced pies and mulled wine (also had a few gluten free option for the gluten intolerant folk in the office) and have raised over €350 for the cause so far.

About Wexford Marine Watch
‘Wexford MarineWatch’ was established in December 2012 primarily to try and combat a long epidemic of suicides in the  Wexford Harbour and Bridge areas – one of the longest bridges in Ireland today at over 580 metres.

Most of these individuals are not recovered in time and get swept away by the very strong tidal flows in the Harbour. This often results in drawn out lengthy searches, sometimes without success – resulting in distress for the families, the relatives, the search teams and the wider community.

Wexford MarineWatch is now ONE YEAR OLD – has managed to reduce suicide & accidents in the Harbour from several people a year, to ZERO – proof and testament this this scheme WORKS!

Nolan Transport Training Academy

16/10/2013 11:30 AM

We have conducted hours of training which include;
  • Driver Induction Training
  • GDP Training
  • Air freight Training
  • Manual Handling Training
