Safe Urban Driving Course
19/09/2018 10:04 AM
Nolan Transport & JRT Truck Drivers during training for Safe Urban Driving course that was done at out Bridgend depot in September 2018.With the ever increasing number of cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists on our roads, it is essential that HGV and PSV drivers understand and are able to operate safely and reduce the risks of driving in today's busy urban environments.
The Safe Urban Driving course focuses on how fleet drivers share our cities' streets safely with the most vulnerable road users. There is a particular emphasis in the course on cyclists and includes a practical 'on-road' cycle training module to give drivers a 'real life' experience of a cyclist's perspective. To find out more about this course you can visit https://safeurbandriving.co.uk/

Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA)
12/11/2014 09:56 AM
Changes taking place from January 2015 in relation to the European Union directive on Fuel Emission that all ferry operators operating in the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA).The SECA zone includes English Channel and North Sea that we must travel though when moving your cargo going to/from Mainland Europe.
The current maximum allowed Sulphur content in marine fuels is 1.0% and this will reduce to 0.1% within the Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECA).
Effectively this means that traditional heavy fuel oil used in freight ferries will be replaced with more refined fuel oil which is more expensive to purchase.
All the various ferry operators within this area have slightly different but similar systems for calculating the SECA surcharges.
We together have absolutely no control over this forced European taxation, The cost implications are unavoidable with a significant impact on current operating cost that we have to pass onto the customer.
Details that we have received from various ferry suppliers.

Under the new legislation, Irish Sea routes between Ireland â UK will not be included in the SECA area until January 2020, this means that the transport costs between Ireland and United Kingdom will not be effected by new low Sulphur rules at this stage.
Naturally, We are extremely conscious of the difficulties which arise from any increase in transport charges to our customers.
We thank you for your understanding on this matter and please do not hesitate to contact us, should you require further clarification.
Regards,
Kevin Nolan

Christmas Jumper day
19/12/2013 12:22 PM
Nolan Transport turned into Santa HQ for our first annual Christmas Jumper Day in aid of the Wexford Marine Watch organisation (http://www.wexfordmarinewatch.com/)The Christmas Jumpers came in all shapes, sizes, price ranges and DIY specials;
We sold an array of cupcakes, minced pies and mulled wine (also had a few gluten free option for the gluten intolerant folk in the office) and have raised over âŹ350 for the cause so far.
Most of these individuals are not recovered in time and get swept away by the very strong tidal flows in the Harbour. This often results in drawn out lengthy searches, sometimes without success â resulting in distress for the families, the relatives, the search teams and the wider community.
